There are certain places here on the Western Slope that already feel like they belong in a fantasy novel, and Mount Garfield has always been one of them.
For Court Night, I wanted to take a landscape that is completely familiar to me and let it slip into another world for a little while. Mount Garfield rises out of the water beneath a glowing peach and violet sky, surrounded by a dark, enchanted forest. Above the mountain are three stars, individually hand finished with gold leaf, a small nod to the world that inspired this piece and the evening it was created to celebrate.
This original 11 × 14 inch watercolor and Micron drawing was created for Court Night, a special event inspired by the A Court of Thorns and Roses series and a night built around fantasy, art, dressing up, and celebrating the books we love.
The original painting is 11 × 14 inches. A very small number of limited-edition prints will also be released in 8 × 10, 11 × 14, and 16 × 20 inches, with the three stars on each print hand gold leafed individually.
These prints are available by preorder only and will be officially released at Court Night. Once the limited editions are gone, they will not be reprinted.
