I wanted to take Wonderland and bring it home to the Western Slope. Not simply putting Alice in Colorado, but imagining what Wonderland might have looked like if it had always existed here.
Mount Garfield rises over the Colorado River, surrounded by Palisade peach orchards and blossoms. The White Rabbit becomes a white jackrabbit, sitting beneath a crescent moon and a sky full of stars. Around it all are little pieces of Wonderland woven into the border, including peaches, hearts, crowns, and just enough strange magic to remind you that we’re all mad here.
This painting is part fairytale, part Palisade, and a love letter to the landscape I call home. A familiar place seen through the looking glass.
