From the Mesa looking at Mount Garfield: The magic is holds

from $40.00

There is something magical about looking out at Mount Garfield. No matter how many times I see it, I always find something new to love. The way the light changes across the cliffs, the Colorado River winding through the valley, and the feeling that there is so much more to this landscape than what we can actually see.

For this painting, I wanted to bring a little of that magic to life. Inspired by A Court of Thorns and Roses, I imagined what it would look like if a little bit of that world existed right here in Western Colorado. A place where the mountains hold ancient stories, the wildflowers grow a little more freely, and the night sky is full of possibilities.

I loved bringing together familiar elements of our landscape with the more whimsical details of the story. Colorado columbines, Indian paintbrush, winding trails, and Mount Garfield sit alongside celestial stars, a winged figure, and little treasures hidden among the rocks. There is something fun about creating a world where the ordinary and extraordinary can exist together.

More than anything, I wanted this painting to remind us that we don't have to travel to imaginary worlds to find magic. Sometimes it is already here, in the places we know, the landscapes we love, and the little things we might otherwise overlook.

From the Mesa Looking at Mount Garfield: The Magic It Holds is part of my Of Starlight & Becoming collection, a series exploring the magic in everyday life, the stories we carry, and the beautiful possibilities of becoming who we are.

This painting celebrates the Western Slope of Colorado and the idea that even the most familiar places can hold a little wonder.

Comes in 8×10 and 11×14 sizes. Original has been sold.
