There is something very beautiful about discovering who you are, especially the parts of yourself you may not have known were there.
Inspired by a character from A Court of Thorns and Roses, I wanted this painting to be less about recreating a story and more about what she represents. The strength to find your own way, the freedom to become who you are meant to be, and the reminder that you don't have to make yourself smaller for anyone else.
I loved playing with the contrast of deep indigos, violets, soft pinks, and warm coral tones, allowing the watercolor to move and bloom around her. The celestial details are finished with variegated and chrome silver leaf, adding a little extra light and dimension.
